Still Imperfectly Beautiful...

Kelli at There's No Place Like Home is hosting show and tell Friday. Today I thought I would share with you a project I recently completed.

Do you remember when Nesting Place had her idhtbptbb party? Well, I reluctantly joined. It was my first blog party.

I shared my playroom space that was in bad shape. And sadly this is where we do most of our entertaining. Yes, that's the kind of people we are. After dinner we head to the loft for some Wii tennis or a few rounds of air hockey.

Anyhow, this space was a disaster. It's okay t
o agree, it really was a disaster. Thankfully the Nester understood it was mostly my husbands fault. Thank you Nester! Proof here.

So, I decided to get organized.

And I still wasn't happy so I used some cover up.

(darn dog)

And I'm still not happy. I would rather have this:

But, I would have to knock out a couple of walls. So I'm stuck with cover up for now. If anyone would like to know how I made the cover up, please let me know. Anyone? Anyone? Work with me here. Just pretend you want to know. ;-)

Brandee :-)

It looks pretty good. I have had many a house where I had to do the curtain thing. Once where a dishwasher was and died...Big ole hole...I love tension rods and curtains!

Hi Brandee,
It looks so much better even if it is temporary!
You'll find the right piece of furniture one day...I'm sure of it!
We have a room like that which is not used too much.
We're thinking of the Wii Fit for us and games for Connor.

It looks so much better than it did before. Now it is nice and neat and organized.

I need more storage space in the kitchen. I've been thinking of taking out the non-working dishwasher, setting a small shelving unit in the space and covering it with a coordinating curtain.

So...how do you make such curtains???

The Berry's Patch said...

Thank you Carrie for asking!! I just sewed the top fabric onto the bottom fabric. To make the opening with the coordinating striped fabric, I ironed the edges down and hot glued it onto the main fabric.

It looks super. What a great idea. I'm thinking it's a curtain rod and a valance. Clever, very clever. And do I see a bushy tail of a four legged fur baby in the photo?!

My Show n Tell is now posted. Hope you can stop by for a visit. Have a glorious Friday.

Brandee, I would have asked.....

Anyhow, it looks great and I think the dog tail adds a touch of charm...hee hee

I would love everything like that to be in cabinets hidden away somewhere.

That looks really nice. We can all use a cover up at times.

Brandee-I love it! Looks so much better and I like how your cover up looks. I did the curtain thing in my laundry room under the counters. I'm in the process of redoing them. Hopefully mine will turn out as purdy as yours:)

You did a good job. Also, don't forget the wall are there not only to hold the roof up. My friend bought this awesome piece to hang for all her DVDs. I believe she got it at IKEA. I have those skinny holders for our CDs and I can't stand them anymore-most go to Ikea.

Brandee, I think if we lived closer together we would be such good friends! I thought we were the only ones who have friends over to play the Wii! I am really hoping to get Wii fit to lose some of this baby weight, I hear the hula hooping competition is a lot of fun! I think your space looks great with your mistreatment!

I LOVE YOU CURTAINS! I have a 'rats nest' behind my little computer desk (still waiting to find the perfect desk), a curtain would cover it perfectly! I think I even know where some short ones are! Looking good-Carla

you know that computer/gaming system/t.v./DVD/VCR stuff can just be murder on decorating...but you did a great job of corraling it all :)

A client of mine did that to her kitchen sink. She took the doors off and did a black and white check skirt for her sink. This is a 3000.00 house. She wanted what she wanted. Looked nice. She also did a cut out pantry door,. Kathy

The cover-up is a great idea. I'm like you, I'd love to have a nice, big, pretty, efficient wall set like that -- but they're big and expensive.

Great idea and great job pulling it off!

Looks great and covers all well! And to think you could easily change it if you tire of the color--like something festive for the Holidays! Very clever and creative!
Blessings to you!

Hi, Brandee, I thought I had your decorating blog on mine, but it was your other one. Took me a minute to figure that out! Anyway, that's a great solution to the clutter.

Excellent idea girl! I love the fabric you chose. I did this same thing but in my little pantry. Soooooooo did you get the book and how far are you? I didn't get home till 1:30 in morning from B& N. rofl, cherry

It is a definite improvement. What type of curtain rod did you use?

Looks pretty darn good! I love it. I am forever wanting to hide things like that away too and you came up with a great solution.

That's a great idea with the skirt on the media table. Our TV in our basement sits on top of an old kitchen table (basement will be refinished this winter)and that's a great way to hide all the gaming consoles and accessories.
