The Cousin Board...

With the kids going back to school, I've been getting organized. I'm so excited to show you my recent project.

This desk area is located in our kitchen. Do you see the wires for the computer? I hate wires!!!!

After trying to shove them behind the monitor and hiding them, I've realized that the wires are not going to disappear.

So I took out the computer. Gone! No more wires!

Thankfully my husband bought me a lap top, because he loves me. Or maybe because he likes that I blog a lot...and blogging keeps me occupied...and being occupied he gets more free time. Anyhoo, it's probably just because he loves me.

Second problem are these pictures. These are the cousin pic's. My brothers kids and my hubby's brothers kids. (Neither one of us had sisters)

So I found this cute picture thing-a-mabob at Kirlands for $8.00. I wasn't too happy with it.

So I bought this frame from Hobby Lobby half off. I like it much better. What do ya think? Try and ignore the holes for now. I'm such a dork. I screwed the thing-a-mabob to the frame not realizing it went all the way through. I'll fix it with some wood putty and a sharpy.

And here is the finished desk...

I actually found this lamp shade the exact color of the picture thing-a-mabob. (what the heck to you call it?) Can you believe it? When things happen like that, I always think its meant to be. :-)

I love that idea! My hubby likes me blogging because then we don't fight over the remote! He is also glad I finished Twilight saga, because he can talk to me when I blog but not when I am reading! I wish I had a desk, my laptop is always on my lap and it gets hot.

Hi Brandee

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog for a visit! I just love meeting new people and getting the chance to follow them home. I can see you've got some GREAT ideas here. Just at quick glance I've already picked up some things to try. I'm sure I'll be back often to see what you're up to!

Good morning Brandee,

I LOVE that....it looks so fabulous in that area now. I was so glad to see you had a dis-organized area in your home...I almost jumped for joy...lol

Anyway, the picture thingy with the frame is just perfect. We bought something like that for Lexi's room re-do (still working on that) and I may have to think about framing it like you did. Great idea and your desk area looks stunning now!!

That frame makes the memo board looks fantastic. Great idea! Lucky girl whose husband will buy her a laptop. My husband keeps trying to pawn his OLD laptop on me. I'm not sure I want it. :o)

Looks wonderful! I love love love that you framed the thingy ma bob, it really looks expensive and fits better with your desk. Like the lamp too. I need to fix up my desk area because it really looks like a desk in an office instead of something attractive in our home. Here I go again...needing help.

Wow! Great I idea!
The frame really makes it!...(I dont know what they call that either? 'bulletin board' maybe?)..maybe you could just call it the 'Cousins Corner'.

Hey there you creative creature! Though I know I shouldn't, I look at desks with tiny laptops and feel ENVY! :)

I'm offically jealous. I want a nice, clean, uncluttered computer space. Oh and by the way, how do you get all of these comments? I wonder if anyone is ever visiting mine because I always have very few comments. Congrats on a wonderful space.

The board looks much better with the frame. Looks like a custom piece, now.

And I love your desk area. We currently have a computer cabinet in the dining room. While it works and keeps things hidden away, I'm ready for something different. Hubby is a creature of habit, and feels that we need a bill paying desk chaos computer cabinet. I love the look of a lap top on a desk. Your area looks so crisp and clean. Good job!

Hi Brandee,
You know I love me some Lobby! Your memo board looks great framed and I heart how it matches the lamp shade. I frame all the memo boards I make, I just collect beat up frames from wherever and paint them. Then I use foam core board from the Lobby cut to fit...they make awesome gifts. Have a wonderfully blessed weekend!
