Valentine Project & Decorations...

Thank you all that left supportive comments on starting school last week. Sadly, I was lost the minute I walked onto campus. Even though I had a map and highlighted exactly where my classes were located.

Anyway, I learned two things last week.

1) Never answer "yes" on a questionnaire that asks you if you know what caused the mortgage crisis...without being capable of explaining it in front of the WHOLE flippin' class.

2) I need to exercise. Holy cow my arms hurt from carrying two books....that's really bad! And I had to walk two miles from my car to the school. I was out of breath...which caused me to become disoriented and get lost. (I can come up with the best excuses for stupidity!)

Moving on....

Recently I was visiting Jenni at A Nest to Keep and found this fun Valentine project. She purchased little mailboxes for each of her kids. From now until Valentine's Day they will each get a little treat and/or card. Oh, I just love this idea!

So, I found these mailboxes at Walmart for $4.00 each. They came with valentine stickers & stencils.

I had the kids get to work decorating...

And viola, they are ready for Valentine mail...

I bought little gifts for under $1.00 to give them inside their mailbox...

Now, for my Valentine Decorations...

I really didn't have any Valentine decorations until last Tuesday. I was shopping at the local grocery store and found these cute little bears...oh, I'm in love!

I wondered if there could possibly be a boy bear that matched. I dug down to the bottom of the basket and found him...

So, here is my Valentine display. Yep, that's it. That's all folks.

I know what you're thinking...I need more Valentine decorations. I'll get right on that. ;-)

Those kids look like they're so into decorating their cute little mailboxes. And what a find you got with those adorable bears. I'm so proud of you for going back to school for your BA, it'll be hard with kids and keeping the home on track, but well worth it. I admire you. Good Luck.

Hugs,
Chris

Good Morning.... What a wonderful idea for the kids for Valentine's Day... Kinda a new take on the whole holiday... I bet it takes off like the Easter bunny...LOL LOL Congratulations on heading back to school... Both my daughters took on this the last couple of years... They both were going to Nursing School and then continuing on to their next degree... I have one that graduated this past December and the other will next December... It was hard with kids & work but well worth it in the end... You go girl and show the world how wonderful you are... I think it great! Have a good one today... And keep your chin up and a smile on your face...

(((HUGS))
Donna

Ps... I am passing this project on to my daughters to do with their kids... Thanks

I LOVE the mailboxes and now you have me running off to Walmart to get them! Do you happen to know which dept. they were in. I MUST have these LOL! And $4, sweet!

So sorry about your school experience! :) I know exactly how you feel-I used to hate the parking and walking while holding 50 lbs! :)

The mailboxes are so cute and I think your V-day decorations are perfect! Those bears are really cute!

Brandee,

I am in agreement with all the other comments, that is a cute idea with the mailboxes. I have a little craft coming up later in the week that I have posted.

School will come easier as time goes on and then you'll wonder what the big deal was about. You go girl...you rock.

I love your bears!

Which school are you attending? It sounds like you may need one of those rolling backpacks. :)

Brandee those mailboxes are so cute! I will have to do that idea next year!
My husband just started his first class of grad school and he said the teacher barely introduced herself before she was off talking about spreadsheets and stuff. He said he sat there wondering what he got himself into, just keep it up! Oh and he got a parking ticket! The thought that he might have to have a parking pass didn't even cross his mind!

Hi Brandee:
What a great idea for the kids. I'll have to pass that along to my daughter. I love your bears that you found at the grocery store. They look like Boyd bears. I noticed your heart shaped candle holder, I just bought the same thing at Walmart on Sat. I thought they are so cute.
Sorry to hear about the school experience... I guess that's why I didn't go back to school. I would be embarassed if I got called on to answer a question like that.

Very cute idea for the valentine mailbox. As far as school, rolling backpack, you have GOT to get one of those, it makes it so much better. You can stow all your gear in it and go. You are allowed to do this if it has been a few years in between high school and college and you must call your stuff gear and use the term "stow my gear." Oh, and make sure you name your rolling backpack. Mine was Milo and everyone started to refer to my backpack as Milo, it was humerous. Now, I just went to a trade school, but if this doesn't work while getting your bachelors my advice would be stow that idea and go to a trade school!!Ha

This was such a funny post! You are really brave to go back to school. I did when I was in my early thirties and felt so out of place. That ended quickly when I found out listening & taking notes pretty much prevented any other stray thoughts from entering my mind!!

I love the mailbox project! Thanks for telling us where you found them. I can think of a lot of cute projects for one (maybe leaving little love notes to my hubby! :-)

Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment, but please go back & see my note under the comments. Thanks

xoxo

:( I went to walmart yesterday in search of these, and sadly never could find them. And of course when I went to FOUR employees not one of them bothered to help me or even tried to understnad what I was talking about. I figure Thursday night I will attempt finding them in a different one.

Hey B! Love your cute little decorations! I personally think it's just enough:) I got the little Target dollar spot mailboxes and am going to use rub-ons to put the girls' names on them. I was planning on putting them on their nightstands and sneaking little treats in them here and there.
