Red Alert...

Update on Red Alert.

If you decide to paint your lamp shades, paint the first coat lightly so the paint doesn't bleed through. Add additional coats, making sure they dry in between each coat. Turn on the lamps each time you paint so you can see how they look with each coat of paint. You will lose the brush strokes after a couple of coats. It took me 3 coats of paint to get the desired look.

Also, the paint is acrylic paint from Walmart...called Barn Red. The fringe is from Hobby Lobby. I just hot glued the fringe to the lamp shades.

I don't mean to alarm you but I've gone on a MAD red paint rampage. I love red and wanted to add some of it to my foyer.

Hmmmmm, what else could I paint red...

This lamp shade could use some color.

What do you think?

I couldn't remember any decorating shows that painted lamp shades. I wasn't sure I COULD paint lamp shades. Thanks to all you wonderful bloggers out there I gathered enough nerve to paint them. I purchased the trim from (who else) Hobby Lobby.

I've started my Fall projects. I'm taking pictures along the way. My mother-in-law arrives Wednesday so I wanted to have all my Fall stuff out by then. Thank you all for stopping by. I have the sweetest commenter's out there
.

Also, I've been tagged by my sister Darlene of Darlene's Days. Well, she's not my real sister but don't tell anyone.

I'm supposed to list 6 unimportant things about me. I really couldn't think of anything so I asked my husband and children to come up with the answers. So, here is goes:

1. (my husband) She doesn't know the difference between fahrenheit and celcius

2. (my daughter) She likes to read magazines in the bathroom.

3. (my middle child) She likes fish.

4. (my youngest) She likes candles.

5. (my husband again) She calls her car Edward.

6. (me) I hate peas.

Now I would like to tag:

Karen at Our Place in the Sun

Carrie at Carrie's Little World

Maybry's Gamma at Georgia Peach Ramblings

Melissa at 3 Ma'am's and Their Guys

Deb at My Life's Little Pieces

Cindy at Love from MN

Hey I really like the red, especially with the black iron and frames, wow. All you need is a matching red throw for one of your chairs or sofa (you know the one you lay on and eat bon bons!). Hahahaha. Anyhoo, I think it looks fabulous and great idea to paint the lamp shades!!!!!

You know that I love a good pop of red in a room. The mats turned out great. They really come alive on your wall. And I never knew that you could paint a lampshade until bloggy land. I've learned so many fun tricks.

Can't wait to see all of your fall pretties.

Inspired move. I love the red. I want to copy the idea of red mat on the picture frames. The red shade also gives the lamp so much more personality. I'm adding you to my Google reader. I love decorating although I don't have much time, and probably not your creativity and inspired eyes. So getting ideas from your blog will make it easier :-)

The paint is a super expensive lamp shade paint that is too hard to find. Kidding! It's one of those little bottles of acrylic paint from Walmart for $1.97. The color I used is Barn Red. I used 3 coats. I would start out with a thin coat b/c mine bled through with the first coat. I have to say I like my lamp shades better then the red fabric shades. I had bought some but the light it gave off was too red...so I took them back. My painted shades don't give off a red light. Lighting is super important!

Wow...I cannot believe those shades. I stared at them...I am totally amazed with painting shades! The fringe makes it! I love red! I have had a red room in every house I live in...this time it's my laundry room!

I will be back!

Hi Brandee, Labor Day weekend was very uneventful, bummer! How was yours? Did you hear Midnight Sun is put on hold indefinitely? Someone leaked it to the internet. Stephenie did make it available on her website and I just finished reading it. You can tell it is unfinished, but it's fabulous and I really hope she changes her mind. Oh well, at least there is the movie to look forward to. My mother LOVED the series but is totally creeped out about Jacob and Renessme, haha!

Also, I'm laughing over your name for your car. I need a good one. A friend of mine calls her mini van 'GC' for 'golden chariot'.
